Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her guidance and commitment to increasing South African Social Security Company (SASSA) providers through an engagement using the agency's senior administrators in a strategic scheduling session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric examinations.
On the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, symbolizing eighty one% in the registered pupils within the education sector.
These learners obtained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the expenditure national government is earning within the life of very poor and vulnerable children is yielding a beneficial effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe said.
